After a very profitable seven-year “career” in corporate America, in 1994, Blake Wilson was influenced by his pastor, Rev. Bill Lawson, at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, to turn from climbing the corporate ladder to learning, loving, and serving Jesus Christ and His people. After leaving the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church to begin serving as a Youth Minister, God began honing Blake’s abilities, which in a short time, was formerly the co-director of The Center for Youth Ministry at the College of Biblical Studies, where he taught for seven years.
Blake has even shared his gifts and talents at student camps and retreats with Allan Houston and Charlie Ward, former NBA players. Having been heavily involved in curriculum development for youth and family life ministries, Blake is well-known for his class entitled The Biblical View of Sex – which he has taught to many, including NBA players on teams like the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs.
He is the lead pastor of Crossover Bible Fellowship in Houston, Texas. Because of his passion for biblical literacy, social justice, and discipleship, Pastor Blake has been among those in Houston, TX, who have preached and advocated for unity in the most diverse city in America.
Pastor Blake was instrumental in spearheading the 5L - United We Stand event on June 15, 2020, which brought together leaders from over 100 churches across the city for prayer and sparked collaboration like mirrored sermons and several repeated meetings. The first of these meetings was hosted by Crossover. His reputation for biblical literacy led to his contributing a chapter to the awarded work, “Urban Apologetics,” edited by his long-time friend and ministry brother, Dr. Eric Mason.
Pastor Blake has made discipleship the central focus of Crossover culture. Toward this end, he published and implemented a well-mapped process entitled “Operation Transformation.” This process is designed to lead Christians from spiritual infancy to spiritual maturity in 8 areas of life through regular times of honest, transparent, & vulnerable group prayer and participation over the course of 2 years. This work is only the beginning of a multi-step goal for Pastor Blake to see his believers equipped to be and do everything God has called them to.
Blake earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Southwest Texas State University and his Master of Arts degree in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary. He is currently pursuing postgraduate studies at Talbot Seminary, concentrating on the importance of discipling men in community.
Blake is married to Dr. Ronique Wilson, who has partnered with Blake in marriage & ministry since 1994. Blake and Ronique have two children, a daughter, and a son. They reside in Houston, Texas.
